DJing with vinyl and special Memorial Day Shim Sham lesson
Hey Swingers, just a quick update on Swingin’ Mondays at the Masonic Ballroom this Memorial Day Monday…
We *will* be dancing and there *will* be a lesson this Monday, the 28th. We’re going to teach the Shim Sham, a great, traditional swing line dance from the 1930s, which you have probably seen danced at various events in the area, and you can read more about here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shim_Sham. We’ll start the shim sham lesson at 6:30, just like the progressives, have an introductory lesson at 7:30, and start the dancing at 8:00. The special Shim Sham lesson and dance will be just $6 and the regular dance and lesson is still only $4
We’re also having a guest DJ who will be playing great swing music off of actual, factual vinyl records all evening! It’s a lot of fun to watch those platters spin.
And lastly and sadly, this Monday will likely be the lovely and talented Zarine’s last Swingin’ Monday in town for quite some time, so it would be a good opportunity to wish her Bon Voyage. We’ll miss her, but are happy that she gets to move on to her next adventure!
We’ll see you on the dance floor!
