February ‘12 Classes!
***Very few dances get you closer to your partner than the Balboa, so this February the Jumpin’ JiveCats are teaching a three-week progressive lesson in this fast, smooth, and historic dance! Starting Monday, February 6th from 6:30 to 7:30pm, and continuing on the 6th and 13th, come learn the one swing dance you can do all night and not break a sweat. Mostly. This three-week session will cover the fundamentals of the Balboa (Bal-Swing, technically), including basic footwork patterns, leading and following, turns, spins, and some flair moves. All three classes are only $25 per person ($10 each week to drop in) and include entry to each night’s dance at Swingin’ Mondays at the Masonic Ballroom. ***For the month of February, Salsa at the Rio will be featuring a 30-minute intro lesson each Tuesday! No experience or partner is needed, and the $3 cover gets you the lesson and the dance at the Agave Room at the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant, so get out and learn this hot, hot Latin dance! ***Learn to Lindy Hop! The Jumpin’ JiveCats and Indigo Blues are teaming up to offer the absolutely least expensive way to get really good at the Grandaddy of all modern swing and blues dances, the Lindy Hop. We have put together a 10-week series of classes that will take you from total beginner to being able to swing the night away with confidence! We will cover dancing fundamentals, rhythm, Lindy footwork, turns, dips, transitioning in and out of jockey and tandem Charleston, and everything you need to bring all of your dancing to a new level, no matter what style you may do.
Classes start on Friday, February 10th and will be held at Poudre High School (201 South Impala Drive - just around the corner from Indigo Blues, just off of Mulberry) from 7:15 to 8:15 on February 10th, 17th, and 24th; March 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd; and April 6th, 20th, and 27th. Total cost for the entire session is only $50 - that’s just $5 per class! Plus, participants will get free entry to the Indigo Blues dance each class night and half price entry to Swingin’ Mondays at the Masonic Temple each following Monday! That’s like dancing for free for ten weeks!
